Do you need to wear sunglasses or protective glasses for the light? Any damage to the eye because of the laser ?

All Silk’n hair removal devices are completely safe to use without safety goggles/glasses and your machine is fitted with an added safety feature that does not allow a flash to go off in mid-air. If you find the light too bright, close your eyes and/or turn your head away for the light during each flash. Some customers prefer to wear their regular sunglasses, but the light emitted is similar to that of a camera flash.

Why do you recommend not using your hair removal products on freckled skin. What is the potential negative effect?

Freckles are not an issue because they are light is pigment and spread out as well as superficial. However, moles tend to be deeper in pigment and raised which makes them more of an concern. Therefore, moles, birthmarks, tattoos or anything that changes the pigment of the skin you would need to apply white medical tape over the area before doing your treatments. We always recommend testing an area on each level before treating the whole area on that level. Depending on the darkness of your freckles you may be able to treat on levels 1, 2 & 3. Will this product ever require replacement bulbs? Realistically, how long will the bulb last if 2 people are using it?

The Flash & Go Express does not require a replacement cartridge. The Express comes preloaded with 300,000 flashes and is designed to last a lifetime of treatments. 300,000 pulses should be enough for 2 people to do their treatments.
I have tattoos and am wondering if this will be effective on those areas covered? Will the beam effect the tattoo or not respond because of the darker color?

We do not recommend treating on tattoos. Treating any area with the Silk'n devices that is dark in color or has more pigment can result in adverse effects such as burns, blisters, and skin color changes (hyper - or hypo-pigmentation). You may wish to cover the area with material that will not absorb the light such as a white cloth or white medical tape during treatments to avoid accidentally flashing over the area.

Can I use it to remove all of hair in my private parts? Or just shape?

All Silk’n hair removal products are designed for body hair removal anywhere from the face (below the cheek bone) down. It is not recommended to use Silk’n on nipples and genitals (male or female). The bikini line is a common treatment area for Silk'n users, however you must be careful when getting too close to the genital area. The bikini line would be considered skin along the lower abdomen and between the legs that is exposed by bikini style undergarments. We do not recommend treating the genital area but consider completing a full bikini - which will be very close, but not a full Brazilian.

Is it good for upper lips?

All of our hair removal devices can safely be used on any facial area below the cheekbone (sideburns, cheeks, jawline/chin, upper lip) and most other areas on the body. The treatment window must fit flat against the skin in order for the device to properly emit the pulse. The area should be a flat surface.

Hello question... how long do i leave it on the Skin for? can i go over the skin two times? if i do the treatment at night on my face (mustache area) just use strong spf on my face and i should be fine right?

The Flash&Go Express device uses optical light energy (HPL) that is attracted to the pigment in hair follicle. If that hair is in the active or anagen phase, it will be disabled. You only need to flash the spot once per session - we do not recommend overlapping or flashing a spot more than once because it may make your skin sensitive and be cause for adverse reactions. Once you flash a spot, move on to the next area -- essentially working in rows to cover the area you want to treat. Do this once every week or so until you have more bald spots than hair growth at which point you can go in to maintenance mode (treating monthly or as required).

We do recommend using a good SPF on your skin to protect your skin from the sun's harm. If you plan on going on vacation or getting a lot of sun exposure, you should not do a Flash&Go Express treatment for a few weeks before and after the sun exposure. Sun exposure makes skin more sensitive and would put you at higher risk of adverse reactions. Wearing a good SPF, a wide hat, long sleeves or pants to cover treated areas will help to protect your skin.
Is it compatible with 230v? If so is there an adaptor to buy?

Our Silk'n devices have a range of 100-240V. If you are travelling, you will need to bring a converter so the adaptor can be used for the specific region.
Can I use this machine for private part ( genital )?

We do not recommend using any of the Silk'n hair removal devices on genitals and nipples. These devices use optical light energy that is drawn to pigment - since genitals and nipples are darker and more sensitive, applying flashes to the areas may make you more susceptible to reactions.
You can treat a full bikini line however you should be more cautious as you get closer to the softer tissue.
Can this be used to treat broken blood vessels on the face?

Our FaceFx or Titan anti aging devices are not harmful with broken capillaries however, these devices may or may not guarantee to help. We do not have a specific device for Spider veins. The Express is our hair removal device.
Is it safe to use on face thats being treated with tretinoin??

Most over the counter retinol, BHA or AHA or other products are safe to use with the our hair removal device. If the product you are using is prescribed by a Doctor or Dermatologist, you should check with him/her that prescribed it. If they confirm that it is ok to use, ask when it would be safe to use. Try doing a test patch on the area to make sure the products have not caused you to be more sensitive to heat and light.

We recommend completing your treatments on freshly clean shaven skin. You want to ensure there is no residue left on the skin before your treatment session.

You may try treating once a week. Although this does not guarantee faster results, it would increase your chances of catching the hairs in the active stage of growth and hairs in certain areas are known to grow at different times and grow thicker.

We recommend treating at the highest energy level you are able to tolerate and where your skin tone is most suitable in order to maximize the effectiveness of each session. You can do a test patch on each level to ensure you're skin tone is suitable for that level before increasing to the next. We recommend completing your treatments on freshly clean shaven skin. You want to make sure there is no residue left on the skin before your treatment sessions.
Will this work on a mans beard area?

We do not recommend using our HPL hair removal devices on male facial hair; it can be difficult to treat and it may not be the look you desire. The end result will be that of unnaturally smooth skin vs. a freshly shaven appearance. Treating the neck area, however, has been proven to be quite successful for men – leaving a natural appearance.
Can I use it on my 12 years old daugher, for under arms and legs?

We recommend that adolescents wait until they are at least 16 years of age before starting treatments with any of our hair removal devices. Due to the hormonal changes that the body goes through during puberty, treatments may be less effective.
How long should I wait after treating my underarms before I apply deodorant or antiperspirant to the areas?

Deodorant can be applied after your treatment if you find your skin is not sensitive.
Is the devise effective on white/light color hair

Our Silk'n hair removal devices are not effective on blonde/white or grey and some shades of red hairs. The device requires pigmentation in the hair for the light to 'find' the hairs, and so without pigment the treatments are ineffective. If the root has pigment the device will be effective however, if the hairs are light it may take longer to see your desired results.

If you find your skin is not sensitive after your treatment you can follow your regular regime and apply moisturizer or sunblock.

Can I used this device on fingers and toes or does there need to be more surface area to the skin for it to flash?

The Flash&Go Express can be used most areas from the cheekbone down to your toes. The only areas we do not recommend treating are on genitals and nipples because those areas are darker and more sensitive. Areas with contour like fingers or toes can be a little more challenging to treat because it is not flat and the device cannot take a proper reading. If you are within the suitable skin tone range, try doing your first flash on the inside of your wrist which is flat and will usually get a good reading. Once the flash is emitted there, apply the flashes to your fingers and toes - keeping them flat and flush against each other should also help.
When it will flashes run out . If they run out how can I refill it

It is not recommended to use Silk’n on nipples (male or female). We do not recommend treating directly on the nipple area, the area has more sensitive skin, as well has more pigmentation which puts you at a greater risk of an adverse reaction, such as blistering.
Can you use this on the peach fuzz on the side of your face

Peach fuzz should be shaved before a treatment session however, it should be noted that if the peach fuzz is light, the treatment will likely not work well on these hairs. Hair must be dark or have some colour to attract the flash. Blonde, white and grey hairs do not have enough colour or pigment to attract the flash and therefore, usually do not respond to the treatment.
What are the risks associated with using this while pregnant? Since results can take up to 6 months, if I get pregnant during that time, can I just pause treatments until after I've had a baby? What harm could this cause the baby if used while pregnant?

Our Silk'n devices have not been tested on pregnant women so for this reason, we are not able to recommend using it during pregnancy or breastfeeding. You can pause treatments and pick up where you left off after you have finished breastfeeding.

The Silk'n Flash&Go Express is an affordable, effective option because it uses HPL technology (same idea as IPL used in professional settings) to disable the hair's root and stop regrowth. Many customers have found the Silk'n treatments to be very effective in reducing ingrown hairs. You do need to shave before each treatment to clear the hair off the surface of the skin. Using a good quality razor may also help with reducing razor burn and that razor will last a long while because the need for shaving frequently will be reduced. Another method you can try, to get rid of the hair off the skin, is trimming the hair with small scissors or a microtrimmer. You cannot wax, pluck or use depilatory creams because these methods will break the follicle and interfere with results. If you have sensitive skin, remember to start your treatments at the lowest energy level and only go with the highest level with which the area/skin is comfortable.
How soon after treatment can I expose a treated area to the sun?

Hi Carole, If you have done a Flash&Go Express treatment, you should avoid sun exposure for 2 weeks. We do not recommend using our hair removal devices on tanned skin including tanning machines, as skin becomes very sensitive and would more susceptible to adverse reactions. After tanning, you should wait 3-4 weeks before doing another treatment. Daily sun exposure should be protected with a high SPF sunscreen or by covering areas being treated (eg. pants, long sleeves or hats).
Hello! Do I have to let the hair grow out and not shave for a certain amount of time?

Hi Jazmin,
To ensure there is a clear path for the optical energy to reach the root it is important to shave the hair before treatment. Treat every 2 weeks for the first 8 treatments but you can shave as often as needed, in between treatments. The follicle needs to be in tact in order for the optical energy to reach the root, so do not wax or tweeze. Most people will start to see results around the 4th treatment - slower or finer hair growth or bald patches in treated areas. Soon you'll find you won't need to worry about shaving, except prior to a maintenance treatment!
I am using it on my front neck and it says to wait two weeks before the next session, but my hair is already growing back after 1 day. Can I use it again sooner? or do i have to wait the full 2 weeks and then shave?

We recommend treating with the Flash&Go Express every two weeks because this is the average time it takes for the hair cycle to get in to the Anagen (Active) phase. Our hair goes through 3 phases - 2 are dormant, 1 is active and the treatment is only effective on the active phase. How often can you do this? Every day??

The schedule in the manual is a general guideline as the average user starts to see results within 4-6 treatments. What you should start to see are ""bald spots"" or patchiness in the treated area. Hair growth is very personal and individuals may have very persistent hair growth. You may treat once a week although this does not guarantee faster results, it would increase your chances of catching the hairs in the active stage of growth and hairs in certain areas are known to grow at different times and grow thicker.
I have fair skin and light brown hair. My skin doesn’t tolerate an energy level at 4 (feels like it’s burning), which is the recommended setting for my light skin tone. Will I have still results with a lower energy setting that I can tolerate better, like at 3?

Some users with more pigment in their skin tone or users wtih more sensitive skin will only be able to use the Express at the lower energy levels but it may take a little longer, you can get results even at Level 1.

Hi! Scheduling wise, I read that you're meant to use it once every 2 weeks for the first two months, and then once a month or as hair reappears. What do you mean by that? If there are stubborn hairs, can I continue using it once every 2 weeks to get them instead of waiting a month? Or every week, even? Or is it best to wait the month regardless? I have some really stubborn chin hairs that keep coming up and I'm two treatments in. I do see a little bit of difference so far, but I think i'll need more than 4 treatments to get the results I want. Is waiting a month after the 4th treatment necessary? How do I know that my unit is working correctly? It only flashes every once in awhile.

Lighting in the room is a key factor during treatments as it may cast a shadow on the skin, triggering the sensor to read an unsuitable skin tone. Always ensure that both the cartridge window and the skin sensor window are flush against the area you are treating. Areas with more contour (eg, chin, fingers, knees) are trickier in getting an accurate reading.

How to use your Flash&Go Express

Silk’n body hair removal is simple, safe and effective. Here’s how to use your Flash&Go Express for fast, painless, easy hair removal. When used as directed, you may start to see results in as early as two treatments!*

Frequency

Start by using your hair removal device once every two weeks for the first four to five sessions. After that you will only need to treat the target area once a month, or as needed. Most users begin to see hair removal results with their Silk’n system in about three to four sessions (or about six to eight weeks). After this time, you will notice dramatic changes in your hair structure: it will become much finer and much thinner. You will also notice that the growth pattern will slow dramatically. Full hair removal can take up to six months.*

How to set up your Flash&Go Express system

Get your Flash&Go Express device ready to remove unwanted body hair by following these steps:

Remove the Flash&Go Express hair removal device and other components from the box.
Plug the power cord into the Flash&Go Express device socket.
Plug the other end of the power cord into an electrical outlet.
All six LED lights will blink on and off, one after the other, in a circle. Your Flash&Go Express is now ready to start.

Treating with Flash&Go Express for the first time

Ready to begin treatment? Here’s how you can prepare yourself.

The skin should be shaved, clean, dry and free of any powders, antiperspirants or deodorants.
Press the central button briefly. The Energy Level 1 LED will turn on. About one second later, the Ready Indicator Light will turn on. The device is now set to deliver the lowest energy level pulses. It is ready for you to trigger the first pulse.
If you wish to change the energy level, press the central button quickly and repeatedly to increase the energy level from 1 to 5 and from 5 directly back to 1, cyclically, until the desired energy level is set. The Energy Level Indicator Lights will indicate the energy level setting.
Apply the treatment surface to the skin, making sure the skin is spread evenly and smoothly and the treatment surface is in full contact with the skin. Make sure the Ready Indicator Light starts blinking slowly.
Press the Pulse Trigger. The device will first determine the color of your skin. If the color of the skin is light enough for safe application, the device will flash a pulse of light onto your skin. You will see a bright flash of light and simultaneously hear a subtle pop sound, which is a normal noise for the device. You may feel a mild sensation of warmth and tingling. Flash&Go Express will immediately recharge for the next pulse. After a few seconds (depending on the set energy level) the Ready Indicator Light will turn on again and start blinking. If you see no light pulse, and the Ready Indicator Light blinks rapidly, this is now the skin color warning indicator light alerting you that your skin tone is too dark for safe application.
Try using the device on a different body part or contact Silk’n support.
Move the treatment surface to another area of skin. Administer one pulse at a time at your chosen energy level. Use the pressure marks the device makes in your skin to guide you for proper positioning of the next pulse, avoiding both gaps and overlaps between pulses. Flash&Go Express can be applied in two ways: “Pulsing” and “Gliding”.
Repeat the process starting again with Step 5.

How often should I use the device?

Hair removal treatment sessions with all Silk’n hair removal products should be spaced every two weeks for the first three to four sessions.

After that, treatments should be resumed if hairs have grown back and until the desired results are achieved. The total number of sessions varies from person to person, but in general, most individuals notice a reduction after four treatments, with very good results after six treatments. Most females require eight full sessions while males tend to have more stubborn and deeper hairs, and may require ten to twelve treatments.

Do I have to shave my hair – what about waxing, tweezing or depilatory cream?

Before you begin your treatment, it is important to first remove the hair on the surface of the skin while keeping the root of the hair intact. For this reason, before you begin to use your Flash&Go Express, we recommend shaving -- not waxing or plucking the hairs, or using chemical depilatory creams, which remove the follicle, thus compromising the results.

We recommend shaving because, if there is hair on the surface of the skin, the Flash&Go Express will simply burn the hair off and not get to the follicle, leaving the treatment ineffective. Therefore, it is always best to treat on freshly shaven skin.

Please allow two weeks for hair to grow back if you have been waxing, tweezing or using depilatory cream before shaving the desired treatment area and beginning your Flash& Go Express treatments.

If you are not comfortable shaving your face (or any other body area), you can also clip or trim the hair as close as possible to your skin using cosmetic scissors or an electric trimmer before treatments. You can purchase the Silk'n Trim precision electric trimmer for this purpose.

When will I see results from Silk'n Flash&Go Express?

As with any light-based or laser hair removal device, results are not immediate (though it would be nice!). In fact, you may not think anything happened at all.

Most users see noticeable reduction after four treatments – or about two months of use. Each time you treat, you should increase the energy level. It is important to be patient and consistent during your hair removal process as hair may sometimes appear to be growing back after a treatment, but many of these hairs will typically fall out after two weeks.

It is also important to understand the hair growth cycle. Hair grows in three different stages and only hairs in an active growth stage will be affected by a Silk'n Flash&Go Express treatment. This is one of the main reasons that multiple treatments are required to achieve the desired result.

How can I maximize my treatment results?

1. Start with clean, freshly shaven skin - NO WAXING or PLUCKING.

2. Progress quickly to high energy levels: once you have tested all treatment areas on the low energy setting, we recommend moving to the highest energy level that you can tolerate and/or that is safe for your skin type.

3. Stick to your treatment schedule for the best chance at catching your hairs in the active stage of growth. Typically, you will see results after the third or fourth treatment, and after this, you can start treating monthly, and then, on an as-needed basis.

Should I pull the hairs out after treatment?

No, it is best to let the hairs gradually fall out on their own (which may take up to two weeks), or shave the hairs as much as desired in between treatments.

Can I use the Flash&Go on my face?

Yes, all of our hair removal products can be used on the face, below the cheekbones only.

This means it is not recommended for use on the eyebrows or hairline, but certainly it is recommended for upper lip hair removal. The Flash & Go Express also gives great results for other sensitive areas of the face, including cheeks, sideburns, chin/jawline, and neck areas.

Be sure to read the user manual when you receive your product to fully familiarize yourself with the treatments and technology. For your safety, it is important to avoid pulsing directly on your lips as your lip colour is darker and more sensitive than the surrounding skin. Your lips may attract more light and this can cause unwanted side effects. To treat around the lip area, we suggest rolling in your lips, or covering them with white surgical tape or a white cloth to prevent accidental flashes on that area.

It’s also safe to use as directed for back hair removal and bikini line hair removal.

I've heard that some hairs grow back lighter and finer after light treatment. Is this true?

This phenomenon is well documented among aestheticians and doctors using light and laser devices for hair removal. It is possible that some hairs will grow back lighter and finer after treatment. Usually, these hairs are a fraction of what was originally there, and continued treatment may have the desired effect.

Can the Silk’n Flash&Go Express be used on naturally dark or tanned skin?

All Silk’n hair removal devices use HPL technology – a flash is emitted which targets hair’s pigment, before converting into heat. Since the light cannot differentiate between skin or hair pigmentation, if the skin is dark, the flash may immediately be drawn to it and may result in adverse reactions.

Please refer to the Fitzpatrick scale found on our How it Works page to ensure you are a suitable candidate before purchasing your hair removal device.

If you think your skin tone falls within the suitable range, you should still use your device with caution; we recommend doing a couple of test flashes with each level, on each area that you plan to treat. For example, if you want to treat your legs, start at Level 1 and do a couple of flashes on your legs. Wait 24 to 48 hrs and if you do not get a reaction, you should be okay to treat this area at this level. Again, you should follow this protocol with each area, at each level, to determine which level you are able to tolerate.

Please also keep in mind during the summer months, extra caution should be taken to protect and cover up any areas being treated from the sun, regardless of your skin tone. Many individuals take a break during this season because their skin darkens from exposure to the sun’s rays.

Can men use Flash&Go Express?

Yes, all of our HPL hair removal devices can be used by men. But, please note that male facial hair can be especially difficult to treat and it may not give you the look you desire. The end result will be that of unnaturally smooth skin, not a freshly shaven appearance.

Treating the neck and back, however, has been proven to be quite successful for men – leaving a natural hair-free appearance. Facial and chest hairs will require more treatments than those of women to get the full results.

Are there any age restrictions?

We recommend that adolescents wait until they are at least 16 years old before starting treatments with any of our hair removal devices. Due to the hormonal changes that the body goes through during puberty, treatments may be less effective during this period. There is no maximum age limit to who can use the device, but keep in mind that treatments will be less effective on grey hairs.

Can I use this over tattoos, moles, or freckles?
