Treatment is most effective at higher energy levels. It is recommended that you perform a test pulse on your skin prior to treatment and wait 24 hours. If there are no adverse effects, such as redness and irritation, you can bypass lower energy levels.

Can I use this product after getting waxed or using nair?

It is important to remove the hair on the surface of the skin before each treatment, while keeping the root of the hair intact. For this reason we recommend shaving as opposed to waxing or plucking the hairs, or using chemical depilatory creams. All of these methods remove the follicle, thus compromising the results. If there is hair on the surface of the skin, it will simply burn the hair off and not get to the follicle, leaving the treatment ineffective. If you do not want to shave, you can also clip or trim the hair as close as possible to your skin using cosmetic scissors or an electric trimmer before treatments.
does the device create heat while apply to the skin? or after sometime while using will it get hot or stay cool? thanks

Our hair removal devices emits a pulse of energy (HPL) which is absorbed by the pigment in the hair shaft. After a series of treatments there will be thinner and less hair growth in the treatment area, and eventually the hair will cease to grow. Some users may feel some heat if the energy level being used is not suitable for their skin tone.
How do you remove the hair from a mole if the mole is suppose to be covered up to protect the area? What can happen to the area if it isn't covered.

How long do you leave it in one spot? How fast do you use a gliding motion? I would like to see a video of how to use it.

When you complete a spot allow the device to flash once and then move to the next spot. The glide option can be used by holding the trigger button down and glide the device. The pulses will flash as you glide.
Can I use your device over tattoos?

We do not recommend treating on tattoos or permanent makeup, dark brown or black spots, (such as large freckles, birth marks, moles or warts). Can I self tan right after

We would not recommend applying self tanner the same day of the treatment with our hair removal devices as they change the pigment of the skin.
Does this work on light skin with gray hair

Our Silk'n hair removal devices are not effective on blonde/white or grey and some shades of red hairs. The device requires pigmentation in the hair for the light to 'find' the hairs, and so without pigment the treatments are ineffective. If you have auburn hair (more brown than red) or dark/mousy blonde hairs, it may work for you but please keep in mind that it will take more treatments before you see results.
Can this device be used on dark skin. I have lots of trouble with such devices so I'm asking. Is it the same as the Silk'n Infinity you have? Thanks

All our devices also have a skin tone sensor that takes a reading of the skin to determine if it is within a safe range to treat. Our previous models have only been able to treat skin tone ranges 1 to 4 based on the Fitzpatrick Skin Tone Classification scale. Many customers with darker skin tones have been able to use the Silk'n devices however it depends on how deep their tones are. Our newest model, Silk'n Infinity, has improved features with added galvanic energy that allows the HPL to better treat thicker, coarser hair. Infinity is also able to treat a broader range of skin tones (1 to 5). Along with the safety feature of the skin tone sensor, the Infinity also features an automatic adjustor that will bring the energy level down to lower levels, if someone with deeper tones tries to treat at an energy level that's too high and unsuitable for them. Customers with more pigment in their skin tone will only be able to use it at the lower energy levels but it may take a little longer, you can get results even at Level 1.
Will this work on ingrown hairs? For example if after I shave I have ingrown hairs, is it safe to treat that area?

Ingrown hairs will be affected by using our hair removal devices as long as they are darker in color.
you responded to another question about men's facial hair with 'The end result will be that of unnaturally smooth skin vs. a freshly shaven appearance' - i am MtF Trans, and would love to remove the hair on my face as easily as possible; does the 'unnaturally smooth skin' mean a younger, more feminine look?

Uneven meaning that there may be bald patches in the area where the hair has been treated and will no longer grow back. If you are M to F then you are trying to remove the hair permanently. Results may also take longer for men due to the coarseness of the hair. On average, you should start to see results - bald spots in the area(s) you are treating - around the 6th session. However a typical hair growth cycle may take 18-24 months. During this time, multiple sessions may be required in order to achieve permanent hair removal. Due to hormonal or other physiological changes, dormant hair follicles may become active. Maintenance hair removal sessions may be required from time to time.
My Bellaflash turns off after two seconds of being turned on, how can this be fixed? The light turns green, it flashes, revs and then turns off completely.

What happens if you use up de 500k pulces on the Flash N Go Pro? Is this unusable at this point? Due to not having to use cartridges is this a disposable device?

The Flash&Go Pro comes preloaded with 400,000 + pulses, which gives you enough flashes to last a lifetime of treatments. A replacement cartridge is not required for this device.
What color is the flash of light supposed to be?

The light emitted is similar to that of a camera flash. It can be red, orange, yellow. Every user may see a different color.
Do you have to refrain from shaving in between treatments?

You can shave as often as you need to in between treatments with the Flash&Go Pro. It is most important to shave before treating to clear the path for the light energy to go to the hair follicle and root. If there is hair on the surface of the skin, the energy will simple burn the hair off and not get to the root. Other methods like waxing, plucking and depilatory creams should not be used because they may pull out the follicle and/or root and interfere with the results.
Can this device be used to treat age spots on hands?

HPL energy is similar to IPL used in professional settings, our hair removal devices have only been cleared for hair removal purposes.

I know you state "cheekbone down", but I am wondering if the Ear would be included in that guidance? Is there any restriction due to skin thickness of the ear if the skin and hair color are appropriate?

All of our hair removal devices can safely be used on any facial area below the cheekbone (sideburns, cheeks, jawline/chin, upper lip) and most other areas on the body. The treatment window must fit flat against the skin in order for the device to properly emit the pulse. The ears may be a difficult area to treat. The area should be a flat surface.
Is the flash as bright as a smart phone flash? Asking because sometimes I get migraines from that type of flash.

It is safe to use without safety goggles/glasses and your machine is fitted with an added safety feature that does not allow a flash to go off in mid-air. If you find the light too bright, close your eyes and/or turn your head away for the light during each flash. Some customers prefer to wear their regular sunglasses, but the light emitted is similar to that of a camera flash.
I just got my Silk'n BellaFlash Pro Touch & Glide HPL Technology Hair Removal Device yesterday in the mail. I plugged it in and tried using it. It worked on level 1 and 2, but when i tried to turn it up to level 3,4,5 it would just revert back to level 2. Any idea why this is happening?

The BellaFlash Pro has a safety sensor that takes a reading of your skin tone and if it detects that the skin tone is dark, and the
energy level is set to 3 or higher, the device will auto-adjust and set the energy level back to 2. If you have fair to medium skin tones and you feel the sensor is adjusting inadvertently, it may be due to the light in which you are working.
Treatments are best done in moderate lighting, no direct or bright lights as these may cause a shadow on the treatment area causing the sensor to detect darker tones.

How many minutes is a underarm session?

Each time you treat a spot move to the next spot, try not to overlap on the treated area more than once. It is not dangerous however, we don't want your skin to be more sensitive in that area if over treated. The whole part of the treatment window (larger window) including the skin tone sensor should be flat against the skin.
Is there a reason why you recommend using this product every two weeks instead of once every week? I feel it is more effective once a week.

The schedule in the manual is a general guideline as the average user starts to see results within 4-6 treatments. What you should start to see are ""bald spots"" or patchiness in the treated area. Hair growth is very personal and individuals may have very persistent hair growth. You may try treating once a week. Although this does not guarantee faster results, it would increase your chances of catching the hairs in the active stage of growth and hairs in certain areas are known to grow at different times and grow thicker.
Do you ship internationally? Would this work with Hong Kong voltage?

My device starts fine but after 5 minutes of using it - it stops flashing. What is the problem? I’ve only had this machine for a couple of months.

Stay away from overhead lights, lamps or windows that allow direct light in - this type of light can create a shadow and read your skin tone as being too dark.
Can I use this on brown skin

Our hair removal devices use HPL technology and the flash that is emitted looks for the first pigment before converting in to heat. Since it cannot differentiate between skin or hair pigmentation, if the skin is dark, the flash may immediately be drawn to it and may result in adverse reactions. Please refer to the Fitzpatrick scale to ensure you are a suitable candidate before purchasing.

If you think your skin tone falls within the suitable range, you should still use your device with caution; we recommend doing a couple of test flashes with each level, on each area that you plan to treat. For example, if you want to treat your legs - start at Level 1 and do a couple of flashes on your legs. Wait 24-48 hrs and if you do not get a reaction, you should be okay to treat this area at this level. Again, you should follow this protocol with each area, at each level to determine which level you are able to tolerate. The great thing about the Infinity is that it does have a broader skin tone range compared to previous models. The added Galvanic energy allows for the optical light to better treat thicker, coarser hairs. Most people with more pigment in their skin tone will only be able to use it at the lower energy levels but it may take a little longer, you can get results even at Level 1.
I have a small plate and some screws in my ankle, I just want to be sure I know what is best for this area. Should I avoid use over my screws and plates? Also why should this item be used only every other week? I curious as I know some others are weekly.

Hi Geri, We recommend that you confirm with your physician that this HPL treatment will not counteract with any underlying medical concerns. Let your physician know the device uses pulsed light technology and he/she may be able to confirm, based on the depth of the metal in your ankle, whether this weill be contraindicative.

The general schedule of treating once every 2 weeks is based on studies of average results. The hair in our body goes through 3 stages - 2 are dormant and 1 is active. The treatment is only effective on the "active" stage which, on average, takes 10-14 days for the follicle to reach once it wakes up from the dormant phase. It varies with each individual and each body part; some individuals with more aggressive hair growth may find multiple sessions may be required in order to achieve permanent hair removal.

Hi Jajian, The Flash&Go Pro along with all of our HPL hair removal devices can from the cheekbone down however we do not recommend it for male facial hair as it can be difficult to treat and it may not be the look you desire. We recommend that adolescents wait until they are at least 16 years of age before starting treatments with any of our hair removal devices. Due to the hormonal changes that the body goes through during puberty, treatments may be less effective.

All Silk’n hair removal products are designed for body hair removal anywhere from the face (below the cheek bone) down. It is not recommended to use Silk’n on genitals (male or female). When we use the term 'genitals' we are referring to the complete genital area. We do not recommend treating directly on the genitals as this area has more sensitive skin, as well can has more pigmentation which puts you at a greater risk of an adverse reaction blistering. The bikini line is a common treatment area for Silk'n users, however you must be careful when getting too close to the genital area. The bikini line would be considered skin along the lower abdomen and between the legs that is exposed by bikini style undergarments. We do not recommend treating the genital area but consider completing a full bikini - which will be very close, but not a full Brazilian.
Can this device be used on the private areas including genitals, arm pits. anise...???

All Silk’n hair removal products are designed for body hair removal anywhere from the face (below the cheek bone) down. It is not recommended to use Silk’n on genitals (male or female). When we use the term 'genitals' we are referring to the complete genital area. We do not recommend treating directly on the genitals as this area has more sensitive skin, as well can has more pigmentation which puts you at a greater risk of an adverse reaction blistering. The bikini line is a common treatment area for Silk'n users, however you must be careful when getting too close to the genital area. The bikini line would be considered skin along the lower abdomen and between the legs that is exposed by bikini style undergarments. We do not recommend treating the genital area but consider completing a full bikini - which will be very close, but not a full Brazilian.

We do not recommend using our hair removal devices while you are pregnant or while nursing as it is suggested that you wait until your hormones have stabilized following birth or the last day of nursing. hello, My skin tone is dark brown. I have very dark hair on my face will this work for me?

Our hair removal devices use HPL technology and the flash that is emitted looks for the first pigment before converting in to heat. Do you need to wear safety glasses (dark glasses) to use this? I have seen users on youtube put glasses on, but others did not.

All our hair removal devices have been FDA cleared for use without any safety glasses. The flash you see is no more harmful than that of a camera flash. If you prefer you can look away or close your eyes as the device is flashing. Some customers prefer to wear sunglasses during treatment to avoid the bright flash. Can you place aloe vera gel on your skin before zapping the device for hair removal?

Hi Ellie, It is important to do your Flash&Go treatments on clean dry skin. No additional gels are required. Make sure you shave the area so that the light pulse can reach the root of the hair follicle. After you have completed your treatment you may apply your lotions and gels.

The Flash&Go Pro is easy to use! Shave the area you wish to treat before each treatment. Shaving is important because it clears the hair off the skin but keeps the follicle/root in tact for treatments. No more waxing, plucking or depilatory creams as these methods may break the follicle and interfere with the treatment. Once the area is clean shaven and dry, plug in the Flash&Go Pro, turn on the device and choose the level that you want to use. (It's important to read the manual about testing areas to find the best energy level for you). The Flash&Go Pro uses smart technology and not have a pulse button. Simply apply the treatment window to the area and the device will flash. With each flash, move the device along the area until the area you wish to treat has been covered. Treat each area once every 2 weeks for the first 8 weeks and soon enough, you will start to see slower hair growth or bald patches in the treated areas - then you can go in to maintenace mode which is treating monthly or as needed.
What's the best way to cover up a mole when using this product?

Hi Jas! You definitely want to cover up any dark, raised moles or tattoos as the optical energy is attracted to dark pigment. You can use something light colored and opaque, such as white medical tape to cover and protect these areas.

Hi, I am trying to remove the hair on my face. it works well on the cheeks as it gets in full contact with the skin, but does not get in full contact with the area around my chin. So It misses the hair on my chin and also a small area above my mouth. Any tips on how to remove the unwanted hair on these areas?

The device has a small window - the skin tone sensor safety feature - that takes a reading of the skin tone every few flashes. If both the treatment window and skin sensor window are not flush on the skin, the sensor cannot get a proper reading and will not flash. This is why areas with contour can be trickier to treat however, still treatable. Try to hold ths skin upwards to allow the treatment window to sit flat on the treated area.
